The modern poster began in Paris, France where artists of the likes of
Chéret, Toulouse-Lautrec and Mucha skillfully embellished the city with
colorful creations that symbolized the florid lifestyles of the Belle
Époque. This book traces the history of the modern poster as a testament to
the times and features 227 works from the beginnings of this genre to Art
Nouveau, Art Déco and the war years.
